Grade 6 Retreat at Eisner

Who goes on the Sixth Grade Retreat?

The Sixth Grade retreat is for Sixth Graders who attend the SHACHARIT Education Program at Temple Shalom or local Jewish day schools. Temple Shalom clergy, the education staff and many of our older teenagers come with us to share the good time!  The retreat is a vital part of  Bar/Bat Mitzvah preparation and the 6th grade experience at Temple Shalom and we know all of our 6th graders will want to attend.

What are we going to do?
We will have a great time celebrating Shabbat and creating community together. You will hang out with your friends, do some learning related to Bar/Bat Mitzvah, get to know clergy and staff, and have fun! Saturday morning will be spent doing Ropes Course team building activities. Yummy food from the dining hall at Camp and cake and ice-cream will be involved. If you have allergies let us know.

Will it be fun?
Yes!! Ask the 7th graders! There will be various fun activities along with some serious activities throughout the whole weekend. Games, Olympics, sports, free time, arts and crafts, good snacks and time with friends.

Where do we sleep?
You will sleep in a heated room with your friends in the Machon Leadership Center, a building of Eisner Camp. Housing will be separated by identified gender with staff nearby and accessible on each floor. Bedtime will be at 10:30 PM each night.

What does the retreat cost?
There is no additional cost! All costs are included in SHACHARIT tuition and your Bar/Bat Mitzvah fee.

How do we get to the retreat? What time do we leave?
A coach bus (the ones with comfy seats, a bathroom and movies!) will take us from Temple Shalom to Camp Eisner and back. It takes approximately three hours to drive to camp and we plan to arrive there before dinner time. The bus will leave Temple Shalom at 3:30 PM on October 27 and return to Temple Shalom by 12:30 PM on October 29th. Please arrive at the bus a few minutes early to load your luggage.
