Rabbi Alona Nir-Keren was ordained at Hebrew Union College Jerusalem as a Reform Rabbi in 2016. As a sabra who understands and comes from the world view of secular Israeli society, she adds a new voice and dimension to the Reform Jewish community. She joined the community of Kehilat Mevasseret Zion in 2017. Having completed a masters from Hebrew University in conflict resolution, Alona has worked in the field of informal Jewish education for over 20 years both in Israel and abroad. Alona was introduced to the rich American Jewish community life during her work as a young emissary to Metro West Federation and nine years later, again as an emissary to the URJ. Today, she resides in Mevasseret Zion with her wife, Yael, their daughter, Ori, and son, Itamar.
