Friday, Jun 13th 7:30p to 9:30p
Temple Shalom is honored to welcome erica riddick (she/they), Founding Director of Jews of Color Sanctuary & Creator of the Bilhah Zilpah Project and Parasha Play, for a three-part weekend experience of deep text exploration, personal reflection, and community conversation rooted in the themes of Torah and liberation. Through her work as a scholar, educator, and spiritual leader, erica invites us to analyze and look beyond narrative assumptions through connections with our own lived experience. Her work fosters inclusive spaces which center Jewish people of color and deepen holistic creative connection to ritual and the Torah. Learning From Enslavement: Tapping Into a Foundational Message of the Torah erica shares their personal journey of connecting with the Torah through sincere direct engagement with difficult texts and how that transformed text study practice. Participants will be reflecting on and discussing their own relationships with difficult Torah texts in this special dinner program.
