Reproductive Rights Shabbat
Friday, January 28, 2022 • 26 Sh'vat 5782
7:30 PM - 8:30 PMZoomNOTE: Reproductive Rights Shabbat is a separate event and will be held after regular Shabbat service.
Temple Shalom will be joining congregations across North America at our Friday evening Shabbat service on Jan 28, in celebration of the critical importance of reproductive health access, reproductive rights, and reproductive justice, and to learn more about Judaism’s approach to these issues. After our service, we will be hearing from a local physician who travels to Mississippi every month to provide abortion care at the only facility in the state which permits it.
CHERYL HAMLIN:
Cheryl Hamlin has been an OB/GYN physician in Cambridge for 30 years.
Over the past several years, particularly since the 2016 election, Dr. Hamlin has become more proactive, seeking to advocate for improved access to reproductive health care, not only in MA, but also in the South. She became licensed to practice in both Mississippi and Alabama, and she continues to travel monthly to MS to provide reproductive care at the Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the only currently operating facility in that state which offers abortion care.
Dr. Hamlin also travels frequently to Guatemala to provide obstetric care and to teach midwives at a locally run birth center, supported by Maya Midwifery International.
Sorry, Registration has ended.
