10:30 AM - 1:30 PMMuseum of Fine ArtSisterhood invites everyone to join them at the Museum of Fine Arts on Sunday, Feb. 8th to view the new exhibit “Reality & Imagination: Rembrandt and the Jews in the Dutch Republic.”
In the 17th century, Jews played a critical role in the vibrant visual culture of the Dutch Republic—as patrons, collectors, and subjects of art, particularly in the work of Rembrandt van Rijn (1606–1669) and his circle. Living in the heart of Amsterdam’s Jewish district, Rembrandt received commissions from his Jewish neighbors, incorporated them into biblical scenes, and depicted them in character studies.
Meet at 10:30 a.m. by the Huntington Ave entrance. Cost for the MFA is $30/person but members can each take one guest. A visit to this small exhibition is expected to take approximately an hour.
Our guide is Temple Shalom Sisterhood member and professor of Art History at Boston College, Amy Golahny, for this exhibition, and the rest of the museum is on your own.
If you are able and wish to sponsor a guest, please indicate below. Since parking is scant and the parking garage is expensive, please indicate whether you are interested in meeting at Temple Shalom at 9:30 a.m. in order to carpool to the MFA.
