B'nei Mitzvah Information

Celebrating the milestone of B'nei Mitzvah is a very special moment for our young people, their families and friends and our community.  At Temple Shalom, typically students become a Bar or Bat Mitzvah close to their 13th birthday in the context of Shabbat (Saturday) morning service.  These services are open to the Temple Shalom community and invited guests.  In addition to the Saturday morning service, students usually participate the night before in the Shabbat evening (Friday night) service, leading our community in the blessing over the wine and while family members are invited to light the Shabbat candles.

Our B’nei Mitzvah team works closely with each family to match students with an appropriate tutor and create a meaningful experience that will encourage students to grow and stretch while feeling supported as part of this community. We believe that celebrating this milestone has three main components:

We are committed to crafting an experience that recognizes the uniqueness of each of our students. Inclusion is a core value of Temple Shalom and this is shown in how we care for all of our families. Each person’s journey is unique and we are happy to act as guides in this process.
